For The Pioneers: The Ancient and Uncharted Paths

“Thus says the Lord, “Stand by the roads and look; ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is; then walk in it, And you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it!’ [Matt 11:29] “I have set watchmen (prophets) over you, Saying, ‘Listen and pay attention to the [warning] sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen.’”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭6‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭AMP

This morning I saw a vision of pioneers walking through a dark and uncharted forest. In front of them I saw a demon with the name arrogance and pride written in red on his forehead. He was handing out what appeared to be flashlights to these pioneers and as they turned them on instead of light there were scrambled and diffused beams that came out like what you would see in a kaleidoscope (only without any color just dull beams). Then I saw  confusion begin to break out among the pioneers and then fear. Then all of them who had these flashlights began to turn back from their journey, and went back the way the had come.

However, behind them I saw pioneers emerge from the dark and as they walked their path illuminated with every step. I then saw Jesus beside them, He was fully illuminated as light itself, however His hands were over their eyes. He was leading them by the light of His spirit not by what they could see with their natural eyes.

Then I heard the Lord explain this vision to me. He said:

“The ancient paths that have been established by generations that have gone before are not to be despised or rejected. They are the roads that will lead to the unchartered paths that I have called my pioneers to uncover. These will be the roads that future generations will use that will lead them to their own new and uncharted territories and paths.

Do not forget that I am the God of Abraham, Isaac, AND Jacob. I am the God of the generations. The enemy has once again come to stand against my pioneers and the journey I have called them to walk, and his intention is to blind them with pride and arrogance to think they can despise and neglect the work of past generations in order to elevate their journey as greater than those who have gone before them. All those who refuse to honor what has come before and leave the paths established by the generations before them will never make it to their destination that I have established for them.

Wherever there is confusion and fear, you will find pride and arrogance at work. Do not trust in your natural sight. In all humility, trust in my leading and surrender to my voice. I will be your guide into the uncharted lands I am leading you into and through.”

As I have been reflecting and pondering on this vision and the word from the Lord, I am reminded of the scene in Star Wars where Obi-Wan puts a helmet that has a shield over the eyes in order for Luke to train without trusting in his natural eye sight, rather trust the instincts of his spirit man. This a very similar to what the Lord is doing in my life. He is removing my ability to trust in what I can see in the natural and intentionally developing my spiritual "eyes" so that in every circumstance I can see HIM!

The word "UNCHARTED" keeps repeating in my mind. One of the definitions is:

Un·chart·ed

/ˌənˈCHärdəd/

adjective

  • 1. (of an area of land or sea) not mapped or surveyed:"an uncharted region of space"

Where the Lord is leading us is uncharted - unmapped and something we have never seen nor has ever been seen before. And yet, the admonition of the Lord is for us NOT to value our journey above what those before us have done and how far they have come. Their journey and pioneering is the very road required in order for us to reach the new heights, depths, and paths we are called to travel on. We stand on the shoulders of men and women of faith who have come before us. This, we must never forget!

“My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands; For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you. Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart, And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬-‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding He established the heavens; By His knowledge the depths were broken up, And clouds drop down the dew. My son, let them not depart from your eyes— Keep sound wisdom and discretion; So they will be life to your soul And grace to your neck. Then you will walk safely in your way, And your foot will not stumble. When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; For the Lord will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭19‬-‭26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.” Moreover He said, “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
